The son of Lonjiku Kaijitsu and brother of Ameiko
A brawny but agile half-elf.
Tsuto was something of a scandal when he was born back in 4688 (a year before Ameiko), since he’s a half-elf (neither of Ameiko’s parents were elves). It was obvious that old Lonjiku wasn’t the boy’s father, and his rage at the discovery of his wife’s indiscretion was the talk of the town for months. Lonjiku’s wife, Atsuii never revealed who the father was, and it’s a testament to Lonjiku’s stubbornness that they remained married.
Tsuto was handed over to the Turandarok Academy to be raised outside the family, ignored by his father and forbidden visits from his mother. Ameiko started visiting him in secret once she learned about his existence at the age of 10, visiting him a few times a month to keep him company, bring him some food, and promise him that someday things would all get sorted out. That all changed in 4705, when they had a terrible argument in which Tsuto struck Ameiko.
Ameiko left town for a year, during which time she made her living as an adventurer. She then returned for her mother’s funeral. Tsuto was quite public in his opinions that his father had pushed Atsuii off a cliff to her death, and during the funeral there was a confrontation. Lonjiku nearly broke Tsuto’s jaw with his cane, after which Tsuto cursed him and left Sandpoint. Ameiko had tried to reestablish contact with him ever since, but was never able to track him down.
Thus, when Tsuto sent his note, Ameiko left to investigate, hopeful that a reconciliation might still be possible.
However, Tsuto had joined up with Nualia and several others. He had been in love with Nualia since childhood and seems very devoted.
Tsuto discovered that Lonjiku had some shady business dealings and used these to blackmail Lonjiku into leaving the Glassworks empty on the day of the Swallowtail Festival. Tsuto used some old smuggling tunnels to break into the Glassworks and stage that raid.
Now Tsuto had even greater leverage on Lonjiku. Lonjiku, after an altercation, agreed to meet Tsuto at the Glassworks, likely with murderous intent. However, Tsuto had the same plan and killed his father through torture with molten glass.
His sister, however, was a different story. Tsuto apparently wanted Ameiko to join Nualia and her band and to help in the burning of Sandpoint. Even when Ameiko refused he remained unable to murder her outright.
Thus, when the party caught Tsuto asleep in the basement of the Glassworks, Ameiko still lived. Tsuto, however, evaded the party and escaped into the smugglers tunnels and thus out of the town.
Unfortunately for Tsuto, however, the party caught up with him again in the hallways below Thistletop. He was shot dead by Shalelu after being given a pox by Havelok.
